Windows 11 Update focuses on Taskbar

Windows 11's first update should make it easier for you to find what you need.

The new Windows 11 update adds a search bar to the start menu

A blog post describing all the fixes and bugs in Windows 11's preview build is now available. Windows 11 has some existing changes, including a UI overhaul, AutoHDR for Gaming, and a modification in the BSOD. This week's update focuses primarily on the Windows 11 Taskbar.

Windows 11 Update Notes:

  • Start now offers a search box that makes it easy to find what you are looking for.
  • Taskbar will now appear across multiple monitors. You can enable Taskbar via Settings > Personalization.
  • We have updated several system alarm dialog boxes, including the one that alerts you when your battery is low or when your display settings are changed with Windows 11.
  • You can now access the Power mode settings on the Settings page.
  • Right-clicking the desktop will now give you a Refresh option, without having to click "Show More Options".
  • Right-clicking a.ps1 File in File Explorer will now give you Run with PowerShell options, without the need to click "Show More Options".
  • Snap layouts for smaller PCs with portrait orientation have been optimized. Instead of having four quadrants, you can snap three apps at once.
  • GIF selections for Windows Insiders in China are now possible thanks to the collaboration with weshineapp.com. GIF data will be available from weshineapp.com if the location is China.
  • Right-clicking the volume icon in your taskbar will now offer the option to fix sound problems.
Build 22000.65's most notable and significant update is the search bar in start menu. Other improvements include updated Power mode settings and optimized snap layouts to fit smaller displays.

There is still a problem with certain apps and features being lost during the upgrade to Windows 10, such as Cortana and Internet Explorer.

This blog post mentions the first Windows 11 Buggy Bash, which runs from now through July 14th. Users can report bugs in Windows 11 using the preview build.

Windows 11 will still be available in fall and is available as a free upgrade to existing Windows 10 users. Windows Insiders have the opportunity to test Windows 11 with the Insider Preview build.

Recently, we learned that users who make the switch from Windows 10 to Windows 11 will have ten day to return to Windows 10 if necessary.
